Why I chose Community Medical Centers - Community Regional:
I was particularly drawn to comprehensive patient services Community Regional Medical Center provides within the critical care setting and the acuity of the patients it serves as a Trauma I center. Its’ affiliation with UCSF and ties with other pharmacy schools allow for a strong teaching-learning environment and opportunities to co-precept students throughout the year.

Furthermore, a major factor that influenced my decision to select Community Medical Centers residency program is their long history of training successful pharmacy residents.
I find that the pharmacy team cares deeply about their work, their patients, and each other. I am moved by the warm and inviting nature of everyone I had the chance to meet throughout the process. I appreciate that everyone here is supportive and invested in my development and success.

Why I chose Community Medical Centers - Clovis Community:
I chose this program because it offers an acute care core that aligned with my professional interests. This system offers 2 busy emergency departments, 2 neonatal units, specialties in trauma and burn, as well as various opportunities from oncology to toxicology.

Additionally, having the ability to practice at both hospitals in the system allows for a better understanding of clinical and operational variances between a community level and regional level hospital. Lastly, having worked with this institution during APPE rotations, I was able to see the dedication that preceptors had to both the profession and their learners.

Why I chose Community Medical Centers - Community Regional:
I chose to complete a PGY1 at Community Regional Medical Center because of the wide range of acute care opportunities offered at this program that cultivates well rounded clinical pharmacists. Community Regional is the only level I trauma center in the region that also includes a level III NICU and comprehensive burn center. In addition to the emergency medicine and many critical care experiences offered, this program also provides exposure to numerous specialty areas of pharmacy including oncology.

Community Medical Centers recently opened the Community Cancer Institute which provides comprehensive oncology services. At Community Medical Centers, pharmacists are involved throughout the continuum of an oncology patient’s care from inpatient to outpatient services. Community Regional Medical Center is also a teaching hospital that is affiliated with UCSF and provides preceptorship to local schools of pharmacy demonstrating its commitment to further education, the pharmacy field, and create a strong learning environment.
