I felt my health was going in the wrong direction, and so I chose Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in 2007. Problems with diabetes and high blood pressure are now behind me, and my new lifestyle includes hiking, rock climbing and horseback riding. For my surgery, I wanted the best of the best. I think my weight started gradually gaining when I went to college, and I just wasn't as active. And in law school I was less active, because I was doing more studying and not as much exercising.
