Clovis Community and Community Regional have both been recognized by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for achievements in nursing care.
Clovis Community Medical Center’s intensive care unit (ICU) earned the Beacon Gold Award of Excellence, while Community Regional Medical Center’s ICU stepdown earned the Beacon Silver Award of Excellence.
“These awards are a powerful reflection of the exceptional care our RNs provide every day and their ability to consistently rise to meet the needs of our community,” said Danny Davis, Division President, Hospitals, Community Health System.
Collaboration between teams is vital to quality patient care
This is not the first time Community has received recognition from the AACN. In 2024, Community Regional’s neuro ICU was one of just seven neuroscience intensive care units in the U.S. to earn a Beacon Gold Award of Excellence. Currently, the hospital is one of just four in California with the distinction.
The latest Beacon recognition honors our critical care nursing teams, who demonstrate top patient outcomes, strong collaboration with other units, and a healthy work environment. The teams include registered nurses (RNs) as well as clinical support staff, who provide vital support and unwavering dedication to excellence in patient care.
“So much work has gone into this incredible achievement,” said Dr. Chris Thomson, critical care physician at Clovis Community. “Receiving the Gold Beacon Award is a testament to not only the high quality of patient care our ICU nurses consistently provide but also the outstanding collaboration between multiple teams.”
The ICU team is part of a larger system dedicated to improving patient outcomes. This achievement of nursing excellence and innovation aligns with Community’s mission to create a healthier Central Valley following the guidelines of The Cause — our commitment to becoming the model for excellence in healthcare not just locally, but nationally.
“The contributions of every service line in this hospital make it possible to fulfill our responsibility of providing high-quality care to the community,” Dr. Thomson added. “The ICU at Clovis Community is truly an amazing team built on a strong foundation of diligence, comradery and compassion.”
