Community Regional Medical Center has once again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report.
Our downtown Fresno hospital was nationally recognized for excellence in maternity care — providing safe, compassionate and quality care for every stage of pregnancy.
Last year Community Regional was recognized as a “Best Regional Hospital” by U.S. News, ranking #1 in Fresno and #35 in California overall.

Patient safety and comfort determine high performance
Community Regional scored well in a number of areas listed by U.S. News as markers determining high performance, including:
- Excellence at minimizing avoidable C-sections
- Participation in quality improvement collaboratives and addressing patient safety/maternal morbidity
- Vaginal birth after cesarean support, which is 17.4 percentage points higher at Community Regional than the state average
- Low episiotomy rate (less than 5%)
Community Regional offers quality care and support throughout the pregnancy journey
Community Regional is one of the largest birthing centers in California and one of only four in the state recognized by The Joint Commission as a Center of Excellence with Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care.
We’re known throughout the region for providing dedicated, specialty care services, including:
- RN navigator services
- International board-certified lactation consultants
- Comprehensive inpatient postpartum care
- Our unique-to-the-Valley Mother’s Resource Center, offering parent education classes
- High-risk pregnancy care
- The region’s only Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
We also welcome doulas into our hospitals, who provide parents with guidance and support throughout the pregnancy journey — before, during and after the birth of a child.
