How U.S. News & World Report ranks hospitals
The purpose of these rankings is to help patients decide where to receive care. To create the rankings, data on nearly 5,000 hospitals was evaluated. U.S. News says that “to be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients.”
Further, to be named a Best Regional Hospital, Community Regional needed to:
- Earn at least eight High Performing ratings out of the 22 evaluated procedures and conditions
- Have at least five more High Performing ratings than the total number of Evaluated ratings (the lowest rating tier) it received
- Offer a full range of general medical and surgical services (as opposed to a specialty hospital)
