Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes the airways in your child's lungs to narrow, making it difficult for them to breathe. One in six children in the San Joaquin Valley has asthma — the highest level in California. There's no cure for asthma, but there are ways to manage it.

What to Expect

Community's pediatric asthma program offers assistance and education to help you and your child learn together how to manage their asthma. We'll discuss with you:

  • What asthma is
  • How to identify and avoid asthma triggers
  • Medications to help manage your child's asthma

You'll also be provided with a daily Asthma Action Plan to help keep your child's symptoms under control.
