What to know before scheduling a lab appointment online

Before scheduling your lab tests, please make sure that your insurance information is up-to-date and your insurance company accepts claims from Community Medical Centers.

Patients with insurance

Community Medical Centers files claims directly with insurance companies, managed care plans, Medicare and Medicaid.

After your lab tests, your insurer will process your claim then send you an explanation of benefits (EOB). An EOB is your insurance company’s written explanation about your claim, showing what they paid and what amount (balance) is your responsibility. It’s possible a balance may include a deductible, copayment or other types of costs. You can find these in your terms of coverage documents.

Your insurer will also inform Community about any balance you owe, and we’ll bill you for that amount. Your insurance company can answer any questions you have about your EOB or terms of coverage documents.

More than one insurance plan

If you have more than one insurance plan, your primary insurance will process your claim first and your secondary insurance will then be billed for any balance that remains after that. If there’s a balance after your secondary insurance has paid its part of the claim, Community will send you a bill for it.

Please visit Billing and Insurance to view the various options available to pay your bill, including paying through the MyHealthMate app, powered by MyChart.

Patients without insurance

If you don’t have insurance or your healthcare benefits don’t cover clinical lab testing services, you’ll need to pay for tests performed by Community Medical Centers before specimen collection services are performed.
