Endoscopy is a medical procedure done with a tube-like instrument called an endoscope. The endoscope is placed in the body to look inside, and is sometimes used for certain kinds of surgery. Flexible endoscopes equipped with video cameras can be used to view the upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) tracts.
