If you’re considering weight-loss surgery, you’ve already made an important choice to regain your health and improve your quality of life. And at Clovis Community Medical Center’s Weight-Loss Surgery Center, we’re committed to your success. We’re here to guide you through every step of your weight-loss journey.

Weight-Loss Program Steps

Step 1: Attend a Seminar

When you attend one of our seminars, you’ll learn about available options, risks and benefits, long-term effects, and the necessary lifestyle changes for maintaining a healthy weight after successful weight-loss surgery.

Step 2: Make a Consultation Appointment with Your Weight-Loss Surgeon

This is the time to have an in-depth conversation about which surgical option may be best for you.

Step 3: Get Medical Clearances

Your insurance will have specific requirements that you must complete prior to your surgery. You may need to complete a three to six month supervised medical weight-loss program.

You will need a nutritional evaluation from a registered dietitian and psychological evaluation from a psychologist specializing in weight-loss surgery clearance.

You must also get clearance from your primary care physician, and in some cases, additional testing or consultation from a cardiologist or endocrinologist. Our staff will help you determine your pre-surgery requirements and assist you every step of the way.

Step 4: Have Your Surgery

A few days before surgery, your pre-operative information will be gathered in person or over the phone in a pre-registration process. The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Patient Resource Guide has been created for you and will be provided prior to surgery. After your surgery you will be cared for by specially-trained weight-loss nurses and staff.

Step 5: Receive Aftercare

You’ll be encouraged by the nursing staff to be up and moving after your procedure as much as possible. During your stay, you’ll receive visits from our registered dietitians and weight-loss surgery navigators to provide additional information on diet, exercise, and a successful post-operative experience.

Upon discharge from the hospital, you’ll be given specific instructions for what to do once you’re home. Follow-up visits with your surgeon and regular support group attendance will be key to your success and ensure your safe recovery.
