Wound Care

Chronic wounds are sores that don’t heal within about three months. And every year healing-resistant wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, or other health-related disorders keep three to five million Americans from living life to its fullest.

The Center for Wound Healing at Clovis Community Medical Center specializes in treating chronic, hard-to-heal wounds, including many that have resisted traditional treatment. They use innovative technologies to assess and diagnose wounds from diabetes, poor circulation, rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions and injuries. The Center for Wound Healing offers a variety of treatments from hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) to specialty wound dressing to surgery.

At Community Regional Medical Center wound care is typically performed using HBO in the Leon S. Peters Burn Center. HBO treats burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, trauma injuries, infections, amputations and complications from cancer and diabetes. Developed in the 1940s, the technology was originally used to treat deep sea divers who suffered from decompression sickness.
