Community Health System has been named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces 2025 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group.

Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group recognize companies through a comprehensive assessment involving employee interviews, company reviews, publicly accessible data, and an analysis of over 120 key performance indicators.

Community Health System currently employs over 11,000 team members — the largest private employer in the area.

“I’m very proud for Community to be recognized with this America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care award. It speaks to our vision for being a leader in creating a healthier Central Valley, which can only happen with the hard work and dedication of every team member,” said Carla Milton, Senior VP and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Team members are the heart and soul of our system

This is one of several awards Community has received for its employment practices, including The Business Journal’s Best of the Central Valley Business Awards for “Best Company to Work For” (2024), and four times prior listed as Forbes’ “Best Employers by State.”

“In the health care industry especially, employee engagement is crucial. These companies demonstrate exceptional commitment to creating a workplace that promotes both employee and client satisfaction at the highest level,” said Jennifer H. Cunningham, Editor-in-Chief at Newsweek. “And with higher employee engagement comes a range of benefits.

“That’s why Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group are partnering for the third-annual ranking of America’s Greatest Workplaces, recognizing the companies where employee engagement comes naturally.”

Investments to ensure healthy futures

Commitment to the health of the Central Valley starts with our own team members. In fiscal year 2024, we invested $1.14 billion in salaries and benefits, including:

  • $30.6 million contributed to the growth of team member retirement savings
  • Over 1,600 team members realized career growth to higher positions or new departments
  • Over 150,000 hours dedicated to training student nurses in our hospitals (an investment of $7.6 million)
