After more than a month, support for Terry’s House – the 20-bedroom hospitality home across the street from Community Regional Medical Center – continues with employees from Pelco, a Clovis electronics surveillance manufacturing company, visiting the home and presenting a $2,915 check. Donations like Pelco’s go a long way toward helping the families have a place to stay while their loved ones receive critical care at Community Regional.

“The overall sustainability is entirely dependent on private gifts and contributions.” Denise Goodman, the house manager of Terry’s House said.

It was Pelco employee Rhonda Watras’ idea to get her colleagues involved in supporting Terry’s House. They raised money through “pay to dress down” days, where Pelco employees had the opportunity to give $5 a week to wear jeans to work. Pelco employees also raised additional funds through raffles.

“This is very dear to my heart,” said Watras while touring Terry’s House. She understands first-hand how important a place like Terry’s House is to families since she spent 45 days traveling from Ramona to a San Diego hospital when her children were young to visit her husband who was ill.

Since Terry’s House opened, more than 50 families have stayed in the home.
