You may recognize her as Sheriff Margaret Mims, but there is another side to her you may not know: Margaret Mims – BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR. When I asked, she agreed to share her story.

She was cared for at the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center at Clovis Community Medical Center. The experience left her at ease because of the multidisciplinary team approach used. Sheriff Mims and her medical team – oncologist, pathologist, plastic surgeon, etc. – developed a plan together not just to treat her cancer, but to BEAT CANCER. She now is cancer free nine years and counting!

It amazes me how many of us have been touched by cancer. We often don’t feel the enormity of
a cancer diagnosis until it hits close to home – a friend, family member or loved one. But, it can literally be any one of us, including our sheriff.

That’s why we are building a patient and family-centered cancer treatment program that’s among the best in world.

Take a look at this video to get a sneak peek of this week’s MedWatch Today show – which features Sheriff Mims' segment. Then make sure you watch on Ch. 24 Saturday, at 7 p.m. or Ch. 47 Sunday, at 6:30 p.m. right before "60 Minutes."

YOU can help people beat cancer. Please contact me to learn how or make a gift today. Honor someone in your life who has been affected by cancer.

Thank you.
