When the $300 million Clovis Community Medical Center expansion construction and renovation are complete in late 2013, more than 2,500 construction jobs will have been created and about 1.5 million hours worked — helping to make it the only comprehensive hospital in the area with all-private rooms. Once complete, the expansion will have used or installed:
- 14,500 dump trucks of earth
- 2,000 tons of structural steel, equal to weight of 1,080 Volkswagen Beetles
- 10,000 cubic yards of concrete, taking more than 1,200 concrete trucks to deliver
- 8,000 gallons of paint
- 1,500 doors
- 7,100 light fixtures
- 30,000 square feet of glass
- 15 miles of new pipe
- 237 miles of electrical wiring
- 400,000 pounds of new duct work
- 300,000 square feet of duct insulation
- 2,200 new medical gas outlets
- 2,500 new plumbing fixtures
- 400 new toilets
- 1,200 tons of cooling to 800-ton system
