Community Regional Medical Center’s catheterization (cath) lab recently earned full accreditation for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence™ (ACE™).  Cardiac cath is a procedure that examines how well the heart is working by inserting a thin tube into a large blood vessel that leads to the heart.
 
ACE accreditation is a professional review to determine if an organization meets best-practice standards established by experts in cardiac and endovascular care. The review looks at an organization’s structure, internal processes, patient safety practices and clinical outcomes.

The ACE outcomes-based accreditation promotes uniform benchmarks, and improves appropriate use via an independent, third-party evaluation of facilities and practices.
