Residents' projects highlighted at first Quality Improvement and Innovation Symposium

On May 26, the first Community Regional Medical Center-UCSF Fresno Quality Improvement and Innovation Symposium will showcase 16 nominated quality improvement and innovation projects from different departments at UCSF Fresno. At the symposium, the top 3 teams will receive trophies and prize awards

On May 26, the first Community Regional Medical Center-UCSF Fresno Quality Improvement and Innovation Symposium will showcase 16 nominated quality improvement and innovation projects from different departments at UCSF Fresno. At the symposium, the top 3 teams will receive trophies and prize awards:
  • 1st Prize = $2000
  • 2nd Prize = $1000
  • 3rd Prize = $500

The panel of judges completed phase 1 of the scoring process. The second phase will be completed the day of the event. The judges are:

Dr Michael Peterson – Associate Dean UCSF
Dr Paul Mills – Assistant Dean of Research UCSF Fresno
Dr Dominic Dizon – Medical Director of Ambulatory Care, Quality and Informatics CMC/UCSF Fresno
Dr Mark Kestner – Chief Medical Innovation Officer CRMC
David Clark – Chief Operating Officer CRMC
Heather Rodriguez – Chief Nursing Officer FHSH
 
It looks like we are going to have a close and exciting contest, with many laudable projects. Phase 2 of the judging will take place next Thursday, May 26, from 4 to 6 p.m., in rooms 136 and 137 of the UCSF Fresno Center.
 
Judging criteria includes:
 
a) Impact factor of results
b) Presentation of Study using Poster Format
c) Reproducibility of results
d) Potential Application of results to Bigger Picture
 
The presentations of cash awards and trophies will take place on May 26 at the event.
 
The public is invited to celebrate the collaborative spirit, done in scholarly work, all in the name of quality improvement, patient safety, and innovation.
