We are overwhelmed by the generosity we’ve witnessed this holiday season. The outpouring support for our organization and other local nonprofits makes us proud to be part of this community.

Here are just a few highlights from this holiday season.

We kicked off the season of giving with a goal-breaking #GivingTuesday

Thanks to 857 donors, we raised $23,053 for Terry’s House in one day! These funds can help cover 768 nights of stay for families at Terry’s House. We also had several organizations and donors step up to host meals for our Terry's House families. Read a message from our Vice President/Chief Development Officer for more ways to support Terry’s House.

Several donations decked the halls of our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

To make being away from home a little easier for the children in our PICU, several different donors brought gifts to make it feel more like the holidays. From teddy bear Christmas trees to stockings filled with inspirational messages, our PICU was filled with holiday cheer.

We filled stockings with children’s books

Our employees and visitors brought the joy of reading to hundreds of local children with our Annual Children’s Book Drive. We collected new or gently used books for newborns to age 12 for local low-income families.

Santa came early to Community Regional with teddy bears

Santa delivered more than 100 teddy bears to some little ones spending their Christmas at Community Regional. For the last 10 years, respiratory therapist Bear Campbell, a.k.a. Santa Claus, and his Street Royalty Motorcycle Club have delivered teddy bears to children at Community Regional. It takes all year for Santa to collect all of the teddy bears – Santa purchases many of the bears, but also gets donations throughout the year.

An employee’s daughter delivered hats and gifts to Community Regional

Aniyla has rallied many people to support her dream of helping people in need. Aniyla had the support of Fresno Advocate, Central California Firecrackers Softball Team, and the Harvest GATE program to help deliver holiday cheer in several areas of Community Regional. This month she delivered hats to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and gifts to children in the Leon S. Peters Burn Center and to Terry’s House.

Our employees donated 475+ toys to the Poverello House

The toys donated to the Poverello House help ensure that every child who walks through its doors at Christmas is given a toy. We consider Poverello a partner in caring for the needs of the homeless population, which serves more than 1,000 needy Valley families on Christmas morning. We are proud of our employees for stepping up to serve our community for the third year in a row.

There were so many donations and acts of kindness that we couldn’t list them all, but want to thank you for all your generosity this holiday season. It made for a perfect end to 2017!
