Community Health System (CHS) and the UCSF School of Medicine are pleased to announce a new multi-year affiliation agreement, which extends a more than 40-year partnership and reinforces our unwavering commitment to training physicians in the San Joaquin Valley.

UCSF’s regional campus in Fresno (UCSF Fresno) has produced thousands of highly qualified physicians. During the last two decades, roughly half of UCSF Fresno residents have remained in the Central Valley following their residency to care for patients, continue their education and teach future physicians. This affiliation is vital as we will continue working to increase the number of physicians in our Valley, which today has one of the lowest doctor-to-patient ratios in the state.

Together, Community and UCSF are reinforcing our strong foundation for medical education in the Valley. We are committed to building on this success and working in partnership to help meet the growing needs of our Central Valley region. We look forward to jointly advocating for Graduate Medical Education resources with our state and federal legislators to further support UCSF Fresno.
