Patti McKernan, CRMC’s Newborn and Prenatal Screening (NAPS) Lab Supervisor, is retiring after almost 43 years of service to the CRMC Laboratory.  Patti has headed CRMC’s NAPS lab for over 30 years. She has been central to building and maintaining a strong relationship with the California Department of Public Health, on whose behalf the NAPS lab does its testing of pregnant moms and their babies.

In addition to all that and being the best dressed person in the room at all times, Patti has been a mentor to and professional model for, dozens of clinical lab scientists and trainees through the years. She was recently recognized by the California Department of Public Health for her distinguished service. That proclamation – on behalf of all the newborns and families whose lives she has enriched -- reminds all of us of the true meaning of our work: enriching the lives of the patients and families whom we serve. 

On behalf of all of us in the CRMC Lab, thank you Patti for your dedication, professionalism, and superior performance in all you do. Congratulations on a highly distinguished career and now please enjoy a long happy retirement.
