Clovis Community Medical Center has the first da Vinci Xi robotic surgery technology in the Central San Joaquin Valley. It's the only robotic surgery technology between Sacramento and Los Angeles able to do complicated surgery that involves multiple areas of the body without repositioning the robot.
 
The new robot is especially useful in complex cancer cases. It's the second da Vinci at Clovis Community, which had the single busiest surgical robot in the world between January and March 2016.
 
The Xi system has been optimized for multi-quadrant surgeries, with a 240-degree reach inside the body and improved optics on the Xi give surgeons even better views of tiny nerves and blood vessels.  Robotic surgery can often result in patients recovering from surgery more quickly and spending less time in the hospital.
 
 “As we launch plans to build a state-of-the-art cancer center on our campus, it will become even more critical to have access to such leading surgical technology close to other members of the oncology team and outpatient follow-up care,” said Craig Castro, CEO of Clovis Community.
