James Walker, Community's VP of Employee Relations and Workforce Effectiveness and I went on a journey to find a Specialty Health Services employee located at the Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center which is on the campus of Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC). The quest? To reward employee Marian Aranda for her participation in our Fitbit drawing - a pre-employee engagement survey education activity that required some time, effort and thought in order to be eligible to enter the drawing.

Approximately 1,000 employees participated in the activity. Marian is the second of ten names randomly drawn to win a Fitbit. (See our first Fitbit winner.)

The journey to find Marian went layers deep! Community has close to 8,000 employees system-wide which encompasses four hospitals and many offsite centers, clinics and business offices. Because we want our employees to feel valued and connected to our organization, the quest to find and personally thank all ten employees is important and has already proven to be well worth the journey.

With Marian's entry into the drawing, she told us the one new thing she learned by reading the informational fliers was that Community was selected among 150 other healthcare organizations as "a great place to work" in healthcare. That's right folks! This Fresno, Calif. hospital system was ranked in the nation's top 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare by Becker's Hospital Review. But we couldn't have done it without the engagement of our employees. Employee feedback is critical to the success of our organization - and employee satisfaction.

"I have been employed at CRMC for almost a year now and appreciate Community for demonstrating the importance of employee satisfaction and overall wellbeing. I am lucky enough to work with a great manager and my fellow staff at Specialty Health, and appreciate all the benefits that Community makes available to employees - like retirement, PTO and free access to the employee gym," said Marian. "And I really appreciate the effort you guys put into surprising me with my new Fitbit. It's definitely a moment to remember. Thanks again!"

To Marian, thanks for sharing your feedback! The surprise on your face was worth all the planning and effort in getting there.

To all 1,000 employees who shared their learning experience with us in the Fitbit enter-to-win activity, thank you for engaging with us. And stay tuned to find out who our next eight winners will be.
