“The little things that we take for granted, they’re not to be overlooked,” said Karen Parker-Bryant after she was released from Clovis Community Medical Center on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. Members of the hospital staff and senior leadership sent Karen off with loud cheers and applause as she was wheeled outside and reunited with her son for the first time in over a month.

Karen was admitted to Clovis Community in April after being diagnosed positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). After spending 35 days on a ventilator and receiving the trial medicine Remdesivir, Karen made a full recovery, saying that we’ve “got to be thankful for everything you get – even if it’s just to inhale and exhale.”
