We believe that family members and friends play a significant and positive role in the recovery of our patients. Visitors are welcome anytime with the exception of the cardiovascular unit (CVU).

We do not allow children under the age of 12 in patient care areas for infection control reasons. If there are extenuating circumstances that should be considered in allowing children to visit a patient, please discuss with the nursing staff.

Patient rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are furnished with a lounge chair that folds out to a bed. Please ask the caregiver for bedding should someone want to spend a night with a patient. Please note: we do not offer these beds in the CVU.

Visiting Hours:

If you have any questions regarding visitation, please check with a nurse on the unit.

Waiting Areas

On the second floor there are two designated waiting rooms for visitors. They are designed for families to wait while a patient is having a procedure or in surgery, during staff shift changes or if a physician is in with the patient.

Visitors may also wait in the hospital’s front lobby, the Comprehensive Evaluation Center (CEC) Lobby or the Café.

Gifts for Patients

Visitors should check in at the nurse’s station before bringing gifts of food and drink to patients as most are on restricted diets.

Fresh flowers and plants may be brought to patients except in the CVU. If an arrangement is received for a CVU patient, it'll be held in the main lobby for a family member to take home or until the patient is moved to the 3rd or 4th floor. The guest relations staff will bring the card that's attached to the arrangement to let the patient know that an arrangement has been delivered for them.

Dining

The Café at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, grab 'n go foods, specialty coffees from “Jitters” and also delicious flavors of soft serve yogurt.

The food services wait staff will gladly provide a tray at a nominal cost to visitors should they request to have a meal sent up at the same time a patient is served his/her meal. There are also vending machines located on the first floor.

The Fresno area has many local eating establishments. Please notify the front desk if you are expecting a delivery. Also, lovely Woodward Park is located right across from Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital.
