When a heart attack happens, every second counts. Fortunately, the Central Valley has access to top-notch cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac nurses and other specialists at Community Health System.

The teams at Community Regional Medical Center, Clovis Community Medical Center and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital have been nationally recognized and awarded for our heart care. We handled more than 200,000 cardiac cases in 2021 — more than any other hospital network in the region.

And it’s not just heart attacks. We take a patient-centric approach to heart care and your overall health.

Improving access across the region

At Community Regional Medical Center, located in downtown Fresno, we perform more than 3,600 cardiac procedures each year. Our team has received recognition for new techniques and advanced technologies, including Advanced Certification by the Joint Commission in Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) — a life-saving treatment option for patients suffering from advanced heart failure.

Our partnership with the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is a pipeline for training future cardiovascular specialists and offers the region’s only fellowship training programs for cardiology, pulmonary and interventional cardiac.

Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital in North Fresno has earned “best in region” for cardiac services as well as top ratings for coronary bypass and heart valve replacement surgeries.

Clovis Community Medical Center was chosen as one of just six medical centers in California to participate in a pilot program performing elective angioplasty procedures to prevent heart attacks. Voted nine years in a row as the "people’s choice" hospital, Clovis Community has the latest in cardiac catheterization and peripheral vascular disease interventional radiology procedures.

In addition, we’re investing $40 million to expand cardiovascular services at Clovis Community, including:

  • Catheterization (cath) labs and hospital entrance: 6,500-square-foot second floor expansion; 1,900-square-foot second floor renovation; three additional cath labs; 11 new pre-operation (pre-op) beds — for a total of four cath labs, one electrophysiology room and 20 pre-op beds.

  • Cardiac operating room expansion and renovation: 4,000-square-foot renovation; two new cardiac operating rooms and one hybrid room — for a total of three cardiac operating rooms.

  • Centralized registration area: 10,300-square-foot first floor expansion and main lobby expansion, creating a single point of registration for inpatient and outpatient services.
