Ongoing, individual volunteer role
This volunteer position provides courteous service to all visitors, callers and families staying at Terry’s House. We're seeking friendly, outgoing folks who can commit their time to help. This position also greets guests and visitors, assist with family needs, answers phones, requests security to help transport families to and from the hospital, and other duties. This is an ongoing, individual volunteer role.

 

Qualifications:

• Must have a friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor.

• Must have excellent people skills and experience working with the public.

• Must show compassion for our guests, who are going through a difficult time.

• Must have a pleasing phone manner and be polite at all times.

• Must be comfortable enforcing the guidelines that Terry’s House sets regarding visitors and guests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet families, visitors, and the public in a friendly, professional manner

• Answer main phone line, transfer calls, and take accurate messages

• Assist staff and donors with any in-kind donations brought to Terry’s House

• Direct visitors to sign the visitor book

• Get familiar with the names of the registered families, staff on duty, and daily activities

• Check meal calendar and help prepare kitchen, notify families, and clean up

• Assist families with various needs including restocking toiletries and household supplies

• Request Security to help transport families to and from the hospital

• Other duties or projects as assigned

Light Housekeeping/Maintenance
Individual or small group
Are you a neat-freak or just enjoy cleaning and organizing? Help keep Terry’s House in sparkling condition year round! We are always looking for individuals or small groups to help restock guest room towels, clean windows, dust, wipe down tables and chairs, sweep, vacuum, and clean our kitchen alongside our amazing housekeeping staff.

Groups of volunteers
This is a fantastic way for families, friends or corporate groups to give back and bond at the same time! You can sign up to host a breakfast, lunch or dinner any day of the year. Come cook in our kitchen or pick up food from your favorite local restaurant. Individual or large group up to 30 volunteers
Are you looking to give back and not sure how? Our Service Saturday program can happen any day of the week for a large group. We will split off in color coded groups, assign fun tasks around the house, and have a great time bonding together as a team. Example: planting flowers, cleaning/organizing, inventory of donations, cooking/baking, writing encouragement/sympathy/birthday cards, assembling guest welcome bags and care packages of toiletries, etc.

Individual or group
We need help collecting items from our wish list. Challenge your family, friends, or coworkers to purchase items from our Wish List, notify us of the items, and drop off! It’s that simple and easy! Every little bit counts and we're so appreciative!
