Community Medical Centers' employee wellness program C-Fit is now offering its services to the general public and through physician referrals.

The C-Fit Solutions line provides: one-on-one nutrition counseling with registered dietitians for weight and disease management; HeartMath stress management training; and SenseWear technology to track caloric output and activity levels and compare it to the caloric intake of meals eaten over that time period.

And C-Fit registered dietitians are leading grocery store tours for the public to educate people on how to read labels, shop healthy on a diet, and shop with specific conditions in mind, such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

The 2-year-old C-Fit Community Wellness Program has taken its place among the top workplace wellness programs by being the only company in California to win a Gold-Level Well Workplace Award for 2008. The award recognizes the progress C-Fit has made in improving employees’ health and bringing down company insurance costs, saving more than $2 million since its inception.

Approximately 40% of Community’s eligible employees – 2,067 employees – have enrolled and more than 5,000 employees have participated in a C-Fit-sponsored program, recreational activity or educational presentation.
