After tripping on the sidewalk and falling, Indian Wells, California, resident Douglas Jackson had a commonated fracture of his proximal humerous, which is a bone that is broken in multiple planes – the bone between the shoulder and the elbow.
Doug first had surgery in Southern California where he had an eight-inch rod and screws inserted in his bone to hold the fracture together. After a year, the bone didn’t heal so Doug sought a second opinion from orthopedic surgeon Peter Simonian, who decided Doug needed surgery.
After the successful removal of the rod and screws, Dr. Simonian was able to fix Doug’s fracture. Now, after a year of pain and suffering, Doug’s arm is on the mend and he’s getting back to his normal routine.
