A new way to honor a newborn

The birth of a new baby is a time of great joy — a life changing event that lasts in minds and hearts forever.

It’s a time of celebration for those at Community Medical Centers too. With more than 14,000 babies born each year at Clovis Community Medical Center and Community Regional Medical Center, there are a lot of reasons to be joyful.

That’s why Clovis Community is starting the Future Generations Baby Honor Wall. It’s a way to celebrate all the new lives the hospital has helped welcome into the world, while raising important funds for the facility’s Family Birth Center.

This exciting campaign was launched on Jan. 1, with Clovis’ first birth of 2007 — baby boy Auley Dawson, born at 7:14 a.m. Unknowingly, this little guy helped kick off the heartwarming campaign by being the very first baby named on the Future Generations Baby Honor Wall.

What is the Future Generations Baby Honor Wall?
It is an exciting and meaningful way to commemorate all of the babies born at Clovis Community since 1988, while generating funds to support vital programs and services for the Family Birth Center.

In early spring, an attractive wall containing space for thousands of plaques will be installed in the Family Birthing Center. All babies born at Clovis Community are invited to participate and have their name and birth date etched on an individual plaque.

This engraved plaque makes a special gift for children, grandchildren, family members, friends or others — and will be viewed and admired for generations to come.

How will the Future Generation Fund benefit the Central Valley?
Funds generated from the Future Generations campaign will go directly to support programs, services and facilities in the Family Birth Center at Clovis Community.

As the Central Valley's population rapidly expands, these funds will be used to help meet the needs of our growing population, and continue to bring the very best in treatment for our littlest residents and their mothers — before, during and after delivery.

Clovis Community is already one of the highest-rated facilities for women's services in the Valley and the Future Generations campaign will help ensure continued excellence in medicine. From "daddy beds" and other comforts to the latest diagnostic equipment, medical experts, programs and services, your support will help us remain the facility of choice for a lifetime of health.

How can people participate?
As allowed by law, this tax-deductible gift of $100 to the Future Generations Fund will provide each baby a plaque on the wall with his or her name and birth date. Multiple plaques for additional children may be purchased. A certificate confirming the gift(s) will be sent to the person purchasing the plaque. The plaques will be mounted on the naming wall about every six weeks (depending on volume).

Future Generations Baby Invitations and order forms will be available to all new babies born at Clovis Community this January. New parents will receive the invitation and form during their stay. Forms are also available by contacting Community Medical Foundation at (559) 459-2980. The Foundation will be happy to process your gift(s) over the phone.

How will the baby's family be notified?
After a plaque has been purchased, a thank you note and frameable certificate will be sent to the person who has purchased the plaque. The certificate makes a great gift.
