CEO editorial: Historic moment in care-giving

I’m proud to report that Community Medical Centers has accomplished the historic relocation of burn, trauma and acute care services from University Medical Center (UMC) to Community Regional Medical Center.

This Herculean task was successfully performed April 16-18 with precision and caring.

Six years after ground was broken for a trauma and critical care building, the burn, trauma and critical care patients were transported and resettled to the Community Regional campus, and services opened at the Table Mountain Rancheria Trauma Center and Leon S. Peters Burn Center.

Community is now blending the cultures and skills of UMC and Community Regional to create a place of unmatched patient care and specialty services where ground-breaking medical research occurs.

Working in partnership with UC San Francisco’s Fresno Medical Education Program, Community will meet Central California’s growing need for advanced medical services and skilled health care professionals by creating the region’s only academic regional medical center.

I congratulate Community’s staff, physicians, leadership team, board of trustees, our donor-investors and our community and political partners on this momentous event. To the people of the Central Valley, I say thank you for helping us open the door for more miracles.
