Thinking back 20 years ago, Craig Castro remembers the news about a hospital opening out in Clovis, but never began to imagine what a part he would play in its success today.   

Now at the helm of Clovis Community Medical Center as CEO for a little more than two years, Castro is leading his team through a two-phase expansion that continues to establish the hospital’s dedication to building leading-edge facilities and providing superior service for area residents.

Dr. Richard Berquist, a family practice physician and emergency medicine doctor with Community Medical Providers, looks a decade younger than his 50-something age. He’s buff and tan from daily kayaking, roller-blading and yoga. He eats a low-fat, semi-vegetarian diet and keeps his cholesterol low. He’s the last person anyone would suspect had a serious heart problem – even an expert like him.

But Dr. Berquist said when he hit his early 50s he decided to take the advice he gives his own patients and do a cardiac stress test on a treadmill.

Community Regional Medical Center launches Errand Solutions, a concierge and errand running service for its employees, on Aug. 26 and 27.

The new service is designed to assist employees in completing everyday errands while they work. Services offered include dry cleaning, automotive repair, oil changes, gift shopping, vacation and party planning, free gift wrapping, discounted tickets to movies and theme parks and more.

Headaches, nausea, dizziness. Symptoms like these don’t seem so out of the ordinary for a mother dealing with the daily pressures of caring for a child with special needs. Luz Marina Knight was experiencing all three and thought it was probably just the stress of caring for her son, Kyle, who had been diagnosed with autism in 2005 at age 4.
