Santa celebrates Christmas with burn survivors

Santa arrived on a fire truck at noon on Dec. 10 at the Clovis Rodeo Hall to deliver gifts to young burn survivors from Community Regional Medical Center’s Leon S. Peters Burn Center during its annual holiday party.

More than 400 friends and family come together each year from all over the state to attend the holiday event. Burn survivors and their families celebrated and participated in a variety of arts, crafts, games and were able to take a photo with Santa. Also, children were encouraged to take home a bear from the “teddy bear tree” – a Christmas tree full of donated stuffed animals.

The holiday party is sponsored by the Peters Burn Center, the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation and local fire departments.

The Peters Burn Center is the only round-the-clock, fully staffed comprehensive burn center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. Last year, the Peters Burn Center performed more than 10,000 burn therapy procedures and nearly half of those treated were children.
