Clovis Community employee honored by Department of Defense

Jill Kienow, obstetrics manager at Clovis Community Medical Center, was honored with the “Patriot Award” from the United States Department of Defense.

1st Class Petty Officer Katy Schauer stands with Jill Kienow after she receives the "Patriot Award" from the U.S. Dept. of Defense.

The award is given by the Employer Support of the Guard (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, to recognize employers that support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition by practicing leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. According to the ESGR, it’s the highest award that is given to an employer from the military.

Kienow was nominated by 1st Class Petty Officer Katy Schauer of the U. S. Navy. Schauer works as a monitor technician in obstetrics at Clovis Community and was called to active military duty. Kienow held Schauer’s position until she returned from service. A representative from the Department of Defense’s Reserve National Guard from Lemoore presented Kienow with the award.
