The Valley’s only Bi-plane Angiography system is helping patients at Community avoid invasive procedures while experiencing less radiation exposure.

The Philips Allura Xper FD 20/10 is used to visualize blood vessels while providing detailed images from two different angles at the same time. Community first used this new technology for patient treatment on March 15.

In the wake of news reports that three infants found abandoned over the last two years in Orosi were likely siblings, local officials are again reminding people that hospitals and most fire stations offer a safe place to leave newborns.

All Community Medical Centers hospitals are designated as Safe Surrender Sites.

Children with asthma should have flu shots according to health officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A CDC study on flu shot data from 2005 showed only 3 in 10 children had received flu shots to protect them.

I am disappointed that after months of discussions, Fresno County apparently has decided not to accept suggestions from the federal government that could have enabled Community Medical Centers to receive as much as $54 million in special Medi-Cal funding over three years.

This money would have benefited the numerous needy patients that nonprofit Community serves as the region’s safety net. Instead, Community is preparing to repay the $18 million we received last year from the federal government as part of this special program.
