Doctors and nurses at Community Regional Medical Center will soon be able to adapt to 170 languages on demand, in as little as one minute.

Community Medical Centers will benefit from a $170,000 grant from the California HealthCare Foundation to boost interpreter services at Community Regional Medical Center.

Imagine a technology that allows a dozen physicians to simultaneously participate in the diagnosis of a patient. What if these physicians were not in the same room, but were all over the Central Valley? Such technology now exists at Community Regional Medical Center.

In December, Community began offering live, weekly Internet conferences for physicians in the region to discuss cancer cases. Hosted through WebEx.com, physicians take part in live discussions, viewing case information right from their desks.

Medical helicopters can land on top of Community Regional Medical Center’s rooftop 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but it’s not every day a 22,000-pound S-70 Black Hawk (UH-60) multi-mission helicopter arrives.

Community Regional recently held an emergency disaster and preparedness drill in which the safety team created a disaster scenario for hospital staff. This three-day disaster drill was a reenactment of an 8.5 earthquake where “patients” arrived via helicopter.
