Community’s employees long committed to our mission of “improving the health of our community” have taken that goal far beyond our hospitals’ walls to work on ways to also improve the health of the environment – which in turn helps us all be healthier. On their own, a group of like-minded, passionate employees formed a Green Team at Community Regional Medical Center, created an organic urban garden out of an unused patio at the hospital, pushed for more recycling in the hospital, and started an annual Earth Day education event to spread their green message.

In 1999, Ed and Sara Wilkins and their family spent days living in a conference room at then-University Medical Center, the area’s only Level 1 trauma center at the time. The space was close to Sam’s intensive care room – their son – just 27 and severely injured in a terrible traffic accident.

Miles from their home, the Wilkins wouldn’t leave the hospital in case something happened. Though Sam received the best care possible, after 30 plus days of fighting for his life, he lost his battle.

The 2nd Annual True Heart Mystery Ride on June 14th was a HUGE success! Capitalizing on last year’s outreach and participation, this year’s event drew even more riders and friends! In comparison to last year’s scorching 109 degrees, the weather could not have been more perfect on June 14th for a motorcycle ride! Nearly 150 riders came out to benefit Terry’s House!

...There is a new restaurant in L.A. called "ChocoChicken" that serves bittersweet cocoa coated chicken; you can even dip the chicken in chocolate ketchup! Oh, and one of their side dishes is ChocMashed potatoes! Apparently they are all the rage and already planning to expand operations due to their popularity.

Who would have thunk of that idea?
