EARLY this morning (4:00am) I had another opportunity to present Terry's House and our need for support to Fresno based UPS employees as they kick off their annual internal United Way campaign! After this morning, I simply can't understand how these guys and gals get up so early...Wow! I'm not sure you ever get used to it, but I sure do appreciate the opportunity to talk to them today, no matter how early!
This is the 3rd year we’ve been able to share the story of and need for Terry's House with UPS employees thanks to a great friend and dedicated Terry's House teammate, Michelle Korman (who has worked for UPS for over 20 years) and her ultra-supportive management team at UPS.
There are approximately 500 employees total at the Fresno facility! This morning I spoke specifically with the UPS pre-load employees (one of the many teams). I am excited to also have an opportunity to get in front of the other UPS Drivers and long-haul truck Drivers in the coming weeks!
Employee based giving at UPS goes up dramatically every year and has earned Fresno an incredible reputation with United Way and UPS Corporate. Ms. Korman deserves a huge THANK YOU for her leadership!!! Michelle, we could not appreciate you more for your continual commitment to our ongoing success!
UPS has been supporting Terry's House for a long time. During our construction phase, UPSers volunteered hours upon hours of their time to come help us with construction clean up projects and brought with them much excitement and enthusiasm for the home-away-from-home they were helping to build and the families they knew it would someday support.
Since Terry's House opened in Jan. of 2011, UPSers not only continue to give monetarily, but they have been involved in many other ways here... Groups including management have come in and cooked meals for our families, they've donated bouquets of flowers for families staying with us and for their loved ones in the hospital for Valentine's Day (delieved in a big brown UPS truck, of course!) and they came out full force to volunteer their time and talents at the recent Spokes-N-Rods Festival on June 9th! To top it off, UPS corporate has donated $25,000 to support our ongoing operations!
We could not have dreamed for a more supportive and ever-evolving partnership with our friends at UPS. THANK YOU for your kind spirits, giving hearts and the joy that you share with Terry's House and Community Medical Centers!
