Two Men… One Mission.

As the Spokes-N-Rods Festival benefitting Terry’s House is quickly approaching, I’ve taken some time to reflect on how this event came to be and ALL of the planning and coordination that’s been done in the last year-and-a-half leading up to it. I could not be more impressed by what this team is capable of! The bar was set high and you all are in for a treat!!!

We are exactly one month away from this incredible event that has been “in the works” since the evening we celebrated the opening of Terry’s House in early January of 2011. All hats go off to Terry’s House Development Council Co-Chairman, Jim Christian for the inspiration and initiative. Jim has always been full of great ideas (including the pet-friendly guest room at Terry’s House) but, he has simply put the icing on the cake with the idea for this event!

Hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to date have been spent to plan the Spokes-N-Rods Festival. We simply wouldn’t have been able to do something like this if it weren’t for our dedicated donors, Jim Christian and his Co-Chairman, Jeff Kroeker. These two guys continue to work tirelessly to find new and creative ways to ensure that we are able to fund the operations of Terry’s House far into the future! We could not be more grateful for them, AND, for the amazing event headed our way just a short time from now!

What started as an “outside the box” motorcycle ride which originally aimed to “unite” motorcycle enthusiasts from all parts of the Valley, regardless of the brand of bike they choose to ride… has turned into a full-fledged, high-flyin’, daylong event and thrill show! The Spokes-N-Rods Festival will be held at the Fresno Fair Ground on June 9th 2012 and will draw hotrod and motorcycle fanatics, family and friends together to enjoy daredevil stunt shows, rockin’ blues music, hundreds of bikes and hotrods on display, a vendor alley, food and fun… All in support of Terry’s House! Sound like a good time? Let me tell you a little more…

When I say Daredevil stunt show, this isn’t just any old stunt show (and Jim Christian certainly didn’t think small)…I’m talking about the world famous, American Daredevil - Bubba Blackwell himself! Bubba is sponsored by Harley Davidson and will come to us all the way from Alabama… He will be jumping a fleet of semi-trucks on his full sized Harley Davidson motorcycle! This guy’s broken all of Evel Knievel’s records and you won’t want to miss it! On top of that, Bubba will also entertain the audience with incredible stunt show performances throughout the day! Wheelies, burnouts…the works!

So, you like rockin’ blues music, huh? Let’s talk about Tommy Castro... Tommy is the BB King Blues Artist of the Year! And, he’s the 2012 nominee! We are bringing you the best in blues. Pair that with local party favorite, the MOFO Party Band and you’re in for a good time!

How can you resist?! To get your tickets NOW click here!!! $20 for adults and $10 for Kids 10 years old and under. Tickets include full access to all of the day’s events. This event is being organized by the Friends of Terry’s House Fresno, LLC. All proceeds will benefit Terry’s House of Community Regional Medical Center.

A very big thank you goes out to our team as we get down to the wire: Jim and Debbie Christian, Jeff Kroeker, Lynn and Tony Bennink, Michelle Korman, Eric Lindegren, Kathy Emler, Helen McNary, Todd Kezerian, Carl Cox, Kathleen Selness and Sarah Pruner-Gunland from JSA, FIVE Creative Group and Mathews Harley Davidson.
