The families of Terry’s House recently benefitted from our wonderful partners at Pacific Gas & Electric! The local Energy Services Division joined together to show a lot of love to our families with a delicious home cooked spaghetti dinner, made complete with Grandma’s famous sauce recipe… A very fun addition to such a great meal and evening here at the House!
The idea to provide dinner was sparked by our delightful new friends, Brandy Grotewold-Alvey and Cheryl Marcelli-McClaine, both Fresno based Customer Service Managers! They rallied and inspired their team to come together in this incredible display of thoughtfulness and they surely “LIT UP” the kitchen and our family’s hearts in the process!
Brandy shared her personal story as she joyfully tossed a large salad, no different than what our Terry’s House guests’ experience. Unfortunately she was faced with medical crisis twice in 2011 one of which took her out of town to her father’s hospital bedside, just months after losing her husband. Brandy stated that if she would have been afforded the warm welcome of a hospitality house like Terry’s House “it wouldn’t have been as stressful. It would have been relieving to have had… a room to pray in, (and comforting to have had the opportunity to) talk with families in similar situation and feel at home.”
We were blown away by the enthusiasm and love that overflowed from our kitchen for the entire length of this special evening. The PG&E team not only provided a wonderful meal, they engaged our families and spent time chatting and simply, listening. It wasn’t hard to notice that our families enjoyed these visitors whom provided a perfect distraction from the daily worries that surround them during this challenging and stressful time in Fresno and at Community Regional Medical Center!
Our relationship with PG&E is a long and certainly impactful one! We know that the good folks at PG&E have a soft spot in their heart for Community Medical Centers and Terry’s House and we’ve received numerous community grants that aided in the building of Terry’s House and our ongoing operations, to the tune of $20,000!
This special dinner commenced with an incredible check presentation for another $5,000 to support Terry’s House! Anna Brooks, Manager for Government Affairs commented “PG& E loves to give back and Terry’s House was a perfect fit,” as so many of the diverse PG&E divisions have been inspired or touched by the home.
Because of organizations like PG&E, our families have a home-away-from-home AND they were given the opportunity through this hosted dinner, to pause and enjoy a good home-cooked meal with compassionate volunteers who made them feel special and cared for. Thank you PG&E for loving us on so many levels!
