On Friday, April 6, 2012 Terry’s House supporters attended their first of many functions to showcase the motorcycle that is being raffled off to benefit Terry’s House, a hospital hospitality home that cares for the families of our critically ill or injured patients at Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno. The first event was held at the Hot Rod Coalition car show in northwest Fresno. It went very smooth with over 20 tickets sold in the first weekend.
The motorcycle then traveled to Big Hat Days in Clovis on the weekend of April 14 and 15. Volunteers Tony Bennink, Steve Williams, Karen White, Bernie Papagni, Eric Lindegren, Jim and Debbie Christian spent two days interacting with people out for a good time of food and shopping at the crafts fair. The first day was a bit cloudy and cool but the second day was sunny and a bit warm. I think all the volunteers that day went home with a slight sunburn. Next time we will make sure we have sunscreen for all of our volunteers. Debbie Christian brought nourishment for everyone, including alligator on a stick! The Clovis Rodeo Queen loved our motorcycle (but not as much as her horse). Over these two days we sold 181 tickets and talked to hundreds of people about Terry's House!
Throughout the summer our tireless volunteers will be attending several events in the valley to sell raffle tickets for the motorcycle. There also are future plans to sell tickets at the hospital. Come out and see us at one of the upcoming events such as the Kingsburg Car Show (April 21st), the Clovis Rodeo (April 28 and 29), and the Spokes and Rods first annual event at the Fair Grounds on June 9th. Watch this blog for future postings and for the countdown on how long it takes for us to sell a total of 5000 tickets.
