In our journey of life we walk and choose many different paths.  Some are easy and make sense, while others are difficult, scary and even painful.  Sometimes the harder path will yield greater rewards.  This leads me to reflect upon the Community Wellness Hike on February 21.

Each year, children of all ages in our Valley schools experience a concussion from playing sports.  Some are diagnosed and some aren’t. Their coach, parent or teacher might not recognize the signs and as healthcare professionals, we sometimes find out days or weeks later.

Hospitals are a microcosm of the larger community they are located in. The Greater Fresno Area is rich in multicultural groups with unique health care needs, but also with cultural needs that influence how their health care needs should be met. Three of these cultural determinants of how healthcare should be provided are the language spoke by the patient, religious practices and beliefs, and cultural customs.

We would like to take a moment to remember our former friend and co-worker Deserie Miranda, who recently passed away on March 9, 2013.  She worked for Community Medical Centers for several years as a PCA, Unit Clerk, and lastly as a Community Home Health Liaison.

The Blood Bank Laboratory at Community Regional Medical Center has received its re-accreditation notice from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).   This continues a decades-long history of continuous AABB accreditation at Community Regional.
