Join us for the Bike to Work Corporate Challenge!

It’s that time of year again in Fresno/Clovis. May is Bike Month and there are all kinds of great, healthy ways that you can be a part of the fun.

Our individual hospital bike riding groups are teaming up to form the CMC Bike 2 Work Team. Our team will gain miles by having as many people as possible bike to work on May 14th.

We will be competing against other businesses in the area to see who the top pedaling dog is. To join the fun, you must join the team. Go to the “bike2work” section of the “I Bike Fresno” website. Find the Community Medical Centers Team and click on JOIN. (After you ride log those miles at “Ride 2 Work” mileage.)

For Clovis campus employees, we will be meeting at Steven’s Bicycles at 6 a.m. for a short, mellow ride to the hospital. Anybody on any bicycle or tricycle is welcome. This is a fun, easy ride, not a race. All you need is a helmet and a great attitude. A secure place to lock up your bicycle will be provided as well as a place to shower off before work if you want. For anybody who may want to really boost our miles, there will be a “detour” ride up into the foothills planned after our ride to the hospital.

For Community Regional employees we're meeting at 6:45 a.m. at the Macy's parking lot at Fresno and Shaw avenues to bike en masse to downtown. We'll travel together from start to finish and no one will be left behind. We'll also make sure everyone is prepared. Please help by making sure your bike is mechanically sound, bringing a water bottle and wearing your bike helmet. At the end of the work day around  4:30 p.m. another organized ride will be planned from Community Regional for participants wanting support for the reverse bike commute.

If the hospital group rides aren't convenient or require you to drive and unload your bike at the meeting spot (which is counter to the whole idea of biking to work!) then please help us compete by commuting from your home and logging your miles into the web site. Anywhere you ride that day on your way to or from work can be counted as “Ride 2 Work” mileage. You just have to be sure that you have logged your mileage by NOON ON MAY 16th. (Take a look below at how much fun we had last year!)

Did we mention prizes?!

Everyone loves prizes. The winner of each company category will receive a plaque, a  T-shirt for all their riders and the recognition of the I Bike Fresno community for a job well done. Plus, everyone who rides in the Kaiser Permanente Bike to Work Day Corporate Challenge will be entered in a drawing to win one of several prizes!

Our grand prize winner (that could be you!) will be riding away with brand new Trek FX 7.1, fully kitted out with a rack, pannier bags, light set, kickstand and lock (total value $716). Wowza! It’s all courtesy of Sunnyside Bicycles.

I really like it when individuals come together and share opinions. Great blog, continue the good work!

I drive 22 miles to work so

I drive 22 miles to work so its hard to bike, what we shoud do?

Driving and biking counts...

The guys leading our rides say it counts if you drive to the starting point with your bike and bike in with others to work.
