Help! We need books!

Help us fill our shelves. Support early reading development and literacy.

Every child deserves the chance to read. For many children in the Central Valley, that is not a reality, but perhaps one book can make the difference.  Perhaps it’s your one book donation that will inspire or help a child.  Beginning Friday, May 24 through Friday, June 7, you can donate a new or gently used children’s book by dropping it into a designated bin at one of the below book collection sites.

We, at the Children’s Health Center located at the Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center, (a licensed facility of Community Regional Medical Center), have been actively participating in the “Reach Out and Read” program for over five years.  We support this very important literacy initiative because our patients deserve the chance to experience the joy of reading and early development in literacy.

“Reach Out and Read” is an evidence-based nonprofit organization that partners with pediatric centers to promote early literacy and school-ready reading skills nationwide by giving books to children and showing parents the importance of reading out loud. Thanks to funds from grants for this program, we are able to provide all of our patients from 6 months to 5 years of age with a new book when they come into our center. However, this is often not enough. That’s where your donated book can help.

We are in need of new or gently used books for our waiting room in the Children’s Health Center. These waiting room books historically have been provided through generous donations from the community, but our book supply is running low. Books have become a pivotal part of our patients’ experience. Many families will even ask for a book as soon as they arrive!  We also have awesome volunteers who read to our patients and families in the waiting room.

We look forward to restocking our waiting room book supply for our patients and families to enjoy.  Bring your donated children’s book a designated bin at one of the following book collection sites:

Book Collection Sites
Cafeteria at Community Regional Medical Center
Hours/Days:  24 hrs, 7 days a week

Lobby at the Deran Koligian Ambulatory Care Center
 Hours/Days:  8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

We appreciate your help in keeping our center and our Valley a rich and nurturing environment by helping us to fill our shelves with books and thank you in advance for your support!

Can we possibly get a drop site at CMC-Covis? Would love to donate some books, but rarely drive to downtown Fresno.

We need a book donation site

We need a book donation site here at Clovis Community, so that employees here can easily donate.
