BIKE 2 WORK DAY is almost here!

Employee News & Views Editor: May 09, 20132 Comments

Being the largest employer in the area, there is no reason that we should not be able to dominate this year’s BIKE 2 WORK DAY CORPORATE CHALLENGE. This is a chance to get out and have a little good, healthy fun with our colleagues. Let's show the region that Community is a leader in this too.

On Wednesday, May 15th, as many of us as possible are going to hop on our bikes and meet at a pre-determined spot and pedal ourselves to work. You can also simply bike yourself to work from your home and then log onto the BIKE2WORK website to enter your miles. Plus… you’ve got a chance to win some awesome prizes just for riding. Prizes like gift cards to REI, Pismo’s, Regal Theaters and even a free bike courtesy of Sunnyside Bicycles.

Remember: It’s not just about being healthy and having fun. It’s about making sure that the hospital down the street knows that we are committed to "improving the health of our community" and way better at riding our bikes than they are! Use the link below or head on over to www.bike2workfresno.org and sign up. It’s Easy…1.. REGISTER  2. RIDE and 3. LOG YOUR MILES ( on the web site by 5/16)

To find out the where to meet for your facility ride, please contact the following:

  • Mario Schiltz - Fresno Heart and Surgical – 433.8061
  • Paul Smith - Community Regional Medical Center -- 676.7522
  • Robert Putnam - Clovis Community Medical Center -765.9315
Clovis employees who are interested in a group ride can meet at Stevens Bicycles on Willow and Nees for a donut and juice before riding to Clovis Community. There will be a place in the parking garage's bottom floor with security to watch the bikes. We will also arrange for some place where people can shower before work if they want. We will plan on leaving Stevens Bicycles at  0615 to get to the hospital by 0640. If you want a good donut selection, you should probably arrive at Stevens by 0600. Team members do not have to participate in the group ride to participate in the event. Anybody can ride to work from anywhere at any time on Wednesday 5/15 and log their miles on the team website.

The three of us are counting on you all to help us win this challenge and make the Valley's air a little cleaner on May 15th!

I contacted the individual listed and he said he was going to be in Sacramento and could not coordinate the event. He said to just wride on my own to work. I was bummed because I wanted to participate in this event.
