My 7 year old is at the age where he loves playing sports, especially soccer. It’s so fun to see him active and having fun. But as a mom, I worry about him getting hurt while playing.
I see news reports where professional football players have life-altering health concerns because of concussions. I watched officials during the recent World Cup soccer championship playoffs allow a player with a concussion back on the field. News reports said later he couldn’t remember winning the game.
I can’t keep my child in a bubble as he continues to play sports, but I can learn more about how to protect our kids. Since concussions affect so many people, I thought the upcoming seminar at Clovis Community Medical Centers might be of interest to you. It will inform us on how to recognize concussions and give us better medical guidelines for when a child can or cannot return to play. You’d be surprised how little most people know about the impact of concussions on young athletes and its dangers.
Come learn more at our seminar on Aug. 7, at 6 p.m., at the new H. Marcus Radin Conference Center at Clovis Community. If you haven’t had a chance to go inside this state-of-the-art building, now is your chance. I am so impressed with the technology it offers and the attention to detail put into it.
