Well, traditional wisdom and logic would lead us to reason that daylight-saving time, which begins March 9th, does reduce energy consumption. But an exceptional situation in Indiana provides evidence challenging that view....."springing forward" may actually cause an increased use of energy!

Been to Disneyland. Once. Maybe go again, if some future grandkid insists.

Been to hospitals (as patient, visitor, employee) enough times to be occasionally surprised, regularly dismayed, sometimes angered, infrequently completely satisfied and always wanting to improve the experience.

Now the Army is trying an infusion of the Disney culture. They paid Disney $800,000 to dialyze the crappy atmosphere at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where the media showcased injured vets living in squalor with care lost in an arsenal of hurry-up-and-wait, shut-up-your-face.

Okay folks, I still write checks and use cash.....I do very little online, so I'm not about to put my healthcare information on there! I'm usually one to try new things and think of myself as quite progressive, but I'm just not comfortable with the Google option of Health records on the Web. It's going to take alot of prodding for this consumer to store my data in portable electronic files!

I told you we'd hear more. Bob Sillen got fired earlier this year as the almost unfettered overseer of reforming California's dangerous prison health care system. And now the state Office of Inspector General (OIG) has reviewed his (and his staff's) spending habits.

Looks like the easiest to explain (though Sillen apparently couldn't say who went or why) was a bill for $432 for one-night's stay for five staffers in Hanford. (What, no ice cream at Superior?)

YouTube service was disrupted on 2/24/08....this apparently was an effort by a foreign government to block access to some video clips they did not agree with. The government's telecommunications authority regulator of that nation's telecom, ordered the internet service providers to block access to a SPECIFIC YouTube video. But in a bizarre twist, the government's efforts to block the clip wound up affecting YouTube users world-wide.
