Una de las cosas que más disfruto de nuestra cultura son los dichos y refranes. Uno de los más conocidos es, “Es mejor prevenir que lamentar.” Y este fue el dicho que vino a mi mente cuando se me informó que como empleada con el proveedor de salud más grande en la región central de California, se me requería vacunarme en contra de la gripe—para la salud de nuestros pacientes y la mía propia.

Schwarzenegger debuted the latest version of a hellish state budget proposal, the University of California's governing Board of Regents gave a unanimous thumbs-up for continued planning for a multi-million-dollar Valley medical school headquartered at UC Merced.

I didn't expect a vacation in Monterey -- yelping seals, cavorting otters, lots of good seafood -- would provide a heaping helping of health incidents.


Mold in pricey hotel room showers (OK, it's damp on the coast but ...). Waiter in top-rated restaurant accidentally dangles his tie --- first in the crab, next in the chocolate cake.

Apparently there is a young man in England who has struggled with hiccups, in essence, every 2 seconds for up to 12 hours a day. He estimates that he has hiccuped 10 million times since the episode(s) began. He has heartburn, no sleep for days, problems breathing and now he's on disability because he can no longer participate as a back-up singer in the rock band he was a part of. One night, he did down a pint of coca-cola right before a performance, and they briefly subsided.

....my in-laws are precious folks (I really mean it), we have always had a great relationship, and shared many experiences together...joyous times, not so joyous, and then plain ole' funny. I would like to share with you a couple of humorous occasions where my normally thoughtful and conscientious mother-in-law created a little stir....
