In 2010, Brian Laird went to doctors with complaints of back and shoulder pain as well as trouble breathing – three weeks later he was diagnosed with ALS – better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This neuromuscular disease slowly steals away an individual’s ability to function as the muscles in the body quit working.
It's Brian’s dream to raise philanthropic dollars to help create a world-class neurological center at Community Regional Medical Center, so people won’t need to travel great distances to get the neurological care they need.
“Our Valley needs to step up and take care of the people that have neurological diseases “said Brian about his community. “We can give other people hope.”
And so his family and friends decided they’d do just that.
By making a pledge, your gift will be restricted for use in Neurosciences, specifically outpatient neurology. This includes neurology programs and services such as ALS, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, stroke and headache.
“Brian is truly one of the nicest guys I have ever known. He was dealt this bad hand and he wants to make it possible for anyone else with similar needs to remain in the Valley to have the best possible care. He’s amazing, an inspiration to me and my family; we are honored to be involved with this project.” - Kevin Sweeney
