Community Medical Foundation Spotlight

Building well developed neighborhoods goes beyond just bricks and mortar. Good health is one of the most basic and crucial cornerstones on which to build a community. This philosophy is the foundation upon which Cambridge Homes establishes their business and their thriving communities.

Since 1990, Cambridge Homes has been constructing quality homes from Fresno to Tulare. A locally-operated company that was founded by two Fresnans, Cambridge Homes is committed to being innovators in the homebuilding industry, developing thriving communities and working to protect the quality of the neighborhoods, both during and after the construction of the homes.

“As home builders we feel it is our responsibility to our community to take it further than just building and delivering quality homes,” said Susan Wilke, Vice President of Marketing for Cambridge Homes. “We feel that it is important to develop safe and healthy communities, and it is vital that these families have access to the best healthcare possible.”

By partnering with Community Medical Centers, Wilke and her staff know that they are doing their part to provide the most advanced medical options available to Valley families.

“Our missions are closely tied and the geographic area that Community serves closely matches the area in which we build,” said Wilke. “Supporting Community Medical Centers is a natural fit for our company and our philosophy.”

Being an innovative and forward-thinking company, Cambridge Homes is a founding partner in Community’s “Live Better” initiative, an educational awareness campaign and annual event that gives people the tools to make healthy choices in their daily lives.  Cambridge Homes also lends their model homes and facilities to support health education, such as Home Fire Safety (pictured above with the Clovis Fire Department).

“We asked ourselves how can we take this further and get people to engage in their own health management; how can we support that?” said Wilke. “By partnering in the “Live Better” initiative we are able to come into their homes and into our communities and offer people the tools to be more proactive.”

Part of Cambridge Homes’ sponsorship supports the production of “MedWatch,” a popular weekly television program that offers health and safety tips from local medical experts, healthy recipes and exercise tips.

Cambridge Homes has also provided health fairs and screenings for families in their housing developments. “We learned that there is a lot that still needs to be done to educate people in our community about health issues and how they affect their daily lives.”

“Our company philosophy is to do the right thing for the right reason, to give back to our Community, quietly and without fanfare,” said Wilke. “We believe our gifts to Community help the region elevate itself to a better health status.”
