Joint Replacement Program
If your hips are not as hip as they used to be, your best move could be the Joint Replacement Program at Community Regional Medical Center.
The Joint Replacement Program at Community Regional Medical Center has earned a nationwide reputation for minimally invasive surgeries that take less time with faster recovery and fewer infections. In addition, our separate joint replacement unit offers patients the comfort of distinctive rooms dedicated for them with “hand-picked” nursing staff and an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner.
Quality

HealthGrades, an independent health care rating organization, has awarded Community Regional Medical Center a five star rating for total hip replacement for 3 years in a row! For 2008, HealthGrades also awarded a five star rating to Community for hip fracture repair. A five star rating is the highest rating awarded by HealthGrades. In fact, a five star rating is reserved for only the top 10-15% of hospitals.
The HealthGrades study, the largest of its kind, analyzed patient outcomes at virtually all of the nation's 5,000 hospitals over the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. HealthGrades obtains its data from the federal government’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

In 2006, Community Regional Medical Center also was recognized as a CareScience™ Select Practice National Quality Leader in the Category of Total Hip Surgery. This award was received by demonstrating a combination of superior clinical outcomes and exceptional efficiency compared to other hospitals in the United States. In fact, the Select Practice designation was only given to hospitals that performed in the top 1% of hospitals nationwide.
Outcomes
The average length of stay for our joint replacement patients is 3 days. For example, a patient admitted to the hospital for surgery on a Monday will typically be discharged to go home on a Wednesday.

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation
Community Regional Medical Center is committed to the continuum of care for their joint replacement patients. If a patient has a caregiver or someone else to care for them in their home, they are discharged from the hospital and referred to a non-hospital based occupational and physical therapy facility for outpatient rehabilitation. If the patient does not have someone to care for them at home, the patient may continue their occupational and physical therapy in a non-hospital based rehabilitation program recommended by their orthopedic surgeon. Your orthopedic surgeon will determine the optimal setting for your post-surgery rehabilitation.
