Neurosurgery

Neurological surgery is the field that diagnoses conditions of the brain, spine and related structures, and may use surgery for treatment when it is appropriate. Our neurosurgeons evaluate and treat brain tumors, pituitary tumors, infections, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, trigeminal neuralgia, and many other conditions that may affect the brain and nervous system.

Our neurosurgeons also care for a wide range of conditions affecting the spinal cord and nerves, including spinal problems such as disc herniation, narrowing, instability, tumors and infection arising in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions of the spine.

We offer several unique services at Community Regional Medical Center. With the only Level 1 trauma center from Los Angeles to Sacramento, neurosurgery plays a prominent role in providing care for severely traumatized patients. Our hospitals offer continuous and comprehensive neurosurgical coverage. There is a neurosurgeon on call to meet the needs of our patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The CyberKnife® stereotactic radiosurgery system (SRS) combines the accuracy of a focused radiation beam with precision robotics to treat lesions deep within the body without open surgery. Certain lesions or tumors of the skull base and brain can be difficult to treat or even impossible with other techniques. GammaKnife was an earlier and different mode of radiosurgery; CyberKnife is more advanced in many ways and Community was the first in the world to have Gen-4 Technology.
